Huntsman, a global leader in chemical products manufacturing, is proposing its VYDRO® () technology as a water management solution. VYDRO® is composed of polyurethane foam with specific properties for green wall and green roof building. It has a much higher capacity for water retention compared to competitive technologies. This innovative technology remains promising in applications where green urbanism (sustainable cities) is concerned.
A preliminary market study had already been performed by Huntsman’s local team in China in order to identify sales potential for VYDRO®. Daydream was asked to further investigate this market and study the feasibility of the project. The objective of this 3-month collaboration was to discover key players who are likely to buy or develop this technology. This was done by performing specific interviews at different levels of the value chain: from the government and provinces responsible for environmental legislation, which is considered as a motor in the development of “China forest cities”, to landscape designers and solution providers, which orchestrate the implementation of solutions with various technologies.
The primary goals have been to understand their needs with respect to their geographic zone, determine habits in terms of design and visual rendering, and find examples of similar projects to get a sense of pricing in order to validate the preliminary study performed by Huntsman in China and Hong Kong.
