Alstom – MARKETING STRATEGY SUPPORT

The TGS (Transport Global Solutions) product line of Alstom Transport (www.alstom.com/Transport/) department proposes turnkey solutions in the urban railway sector.

Generally, in the most recent Tramway or Subway installations, the energy generated during the braking of a train is partially used by the next separate train running on the same line (when there is one); otherwise, the entirety of this energy, as well as any unused portion, is lost in calories.

Alstom has developed a new technology, HESOP, which enables the railway system to completely re-use this braking energy, either by transferring it in the user’s internal electrical network (to assist the running of lights, escalators or ticket machines) or by redistributing this electricity to the ERDF (Electricité Réseau Distribution France – Electricity Network Ditribution France) network – for France.

Despite this technological advancement and answer to market preoccupations in terms of sustainable development and energy saving, Alstom has met difficulties in selling this solution. For this reason, Alstom has entrusted Daydream to perform a diagnostic study of the perception of HESOP on the market in order to recommend relevant sales tools to support this offer.
